KARACHI: Around 950 Pakistanis were deported from various countries over allegations of begging abroad during 2025-26, while 49 passengers suspected of travelling overseas for the same purpose were offloaded at Karachi airport. According to official figures, Saudi Arabia recorded the highest number of deportations, with 897 Pakistanis sent back to the country during the period. The figures showed that 22 Pakistanis were deported from the UAE, 11 each from Iraq and Oman, five from Qatar, and one each from Bahrain and Malaysia. Meanwhile, authorities offloaded 21 passengers bound for Saudi Arabia on suspicion of travelling abroad for begging. Seven passengers travelling to Bahrain and five each heading to the UAE and Qatar were also stopped. Four passengers travelling to Oman and three bound for Malaysia were offloaded, while one passenger each travelling to Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Indonesia and Türkiye was also stopped. All the offloaded passengers were shifted to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle for further investigation and legal action.
