ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for filing income tax returns for Tax Year 2026 by 15 days, providing additional time to taxpayers who were required to file their returns by September 30.

Under the extension, taxpayers can now file their Tax Year 2026 income tax returns by October 15, 2026.

The FBR issued a notification extending the return filing deadline under Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance.

The extension was granted following requests from trade organisations and tax bars, which had sought additional time for taxpayers to complete and submit their returns.

The FBR said the extended deadline would allow taxpayers who could not file their returns by September 30 to submit their returns by October 15, 2026.

The move is expected to provide relief to taxpayers and tax practitioners facing difficulties in completing the filing process within the original deadline.
