FIA, PSO Bust Major Diesel Theft Network; Two Suspects Arrested
Islamabad: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad Zone, in a joint operation with Pakistan State Oil (PSO), has uncovered a major diesel theft network operating from the main pipeline connected to the Sihala Depot and arrested two suspects caught in the act.
According to the FIA, the raid was carried out near the Jump Stop in Sihala Bhaga following a tip-off. Investigators discovered that the suspects had installed an illegal underground secondary pipeline to siphon diesel from the PSO–ARL main pipeline.
The stolen fuel was allegedly transferred into drums and sold on the black market.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the network had been operating for the past five to six months, illegally extracting around 20,000 liters of diesel every day.
PSO's initial assessment estimates that the illegal operation caused losses exceeding Rs100 million to the national exchequer.
During the operation, authorities seized the illegal pipeline, two Honda Shehzore pickup trucks, multiple drums, and storage tanks filled with stolen oil.
A case has been registered against the suspects under the relevant laws. The FIA said the investigation will continue to identify other individuals involved in the network, including any public officials who may have facilitated the operation.
