The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms across several upper parts of the country from August 28 to September 6. Islamabad- According to the weather advisory, rainfall is expected in Murree, the Galiyat region, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, ChakwAL JhelumIand Gujrat. Several areas of Punjab, including Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal and Mandi Bahauddin, are also likely to receive rain during the forecast period. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain is expected in various districts from August 29 through September 5. The weather system is also forecast to bring rainfall to different parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. The Meteorological Department warned that heavy rainfall could result in water accumulation in low-lying areas. There is also a risk of flooding in streams and nullahs in the upper regions, particularly during periods of intense rainfall. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious during periods of severe weather and avoid unnecessary travel. People living in vulnerable and low-lying areas have been urged to remain alert to possible flooding and rapidly changing weather conditions. Relevant government departments and emergency-response agencies have also been directed to take precautionary measures in advance to deal with any potential weather-related emergencies. Residents are advised to follow official weather updates and heed instructions issued by authorities, particularly during periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
