Pakistan condemns Houthi attack on Riyadh airport, reaffirms support for Saudi Arabia
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Sunday strongly condemned the latest Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, calling it an act of terrorism and reaffirming its commitment to Saudi Arabia’s security and territorial integrity.
In a statement, Pakistan’s Foreign Office expressed concern over reports of casualties and injuries resulting from the attack and offered condolences to the victims’ families.
“The targeting of a civilian airport constitutes a heinous act of terrorism, a flagrant violation of international law and a grave threat to regional peace and security,” the statement said.
Pakistan called on the Houthi militia to immediately halt its attacks and urged the international community to take a firm stand against actions that endanger civilians and undermine regional stability.
Islamabad also reiterated its support for Saudi Arabia’s right to defend its territory, protect its people and safeguard critical infrastructure against threats and acts of aggression.
Referring to the Makkah Agreement for Joint Defence and recent decisions by its Strategic, Political and Defence Committee, Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, security and stability.
“Pakistan will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, resolute in its commitment to the Kingdom’s sovereignty, security and defence,” the statement said.
