TEHRAN: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi conveyed a special and important message from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian regarding the prevailing situation in the region, diplomatic sources said.

According to the sources, Naqvi briefed President Pezeshkian on the recent Mecca Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.

The interior minister also took the Iranian president into confidence regarding the defence agreement and its implications for regional security, the sources said.

Naqvi is assisting Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in efforts aimed at advancing peace talks in the region, according to Iranian media sources.

The sources further said that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir remains in continuous contact with senior officials from the Gulf countries, Iran and the United States as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
