PTA Members Face Scrutiny Over Alleged Irregular Payments Exceeding Rs 28.6 Million
Islamabad-An audit report issued by the Auditor General of Pakistan has revealed alleged financial irregularities within the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), raising concerns over governance and internal financial controls.
According to the findings, members of the PTA reportedly approved their own medical policies, allowances, and other benefits, which led to unauthorized expenditures exceeding Rs 11.5 million under various heads of special perks and allowances.
The report further highlights discrepancies in salary fixation, resulting in excess payments of more than Rs 7.1 million. In total, the alleged irregular payments identified in the audit amount to over Rs 28.6 million.
The Auditor General of Pakistan has flagged these issues as violations of financial discipline and standard public sector procedures, recommending further review and corrective action.
Officials associated with PTA have not issued a detailed public response at this stage. The audit observations are expected to be examined further through departmental scrutiny and possible follow-up investigations before any final conclusions are drawn.
