Supreme Court Orders Transfer of Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital
Islmabad-Pakistan’s Supreme Court has ordered that PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for medical treatment.
The order came during a hearing concerning Khan’s health and meetings with his family and lawyers. Justice Shahid Waheed questioned why the government had not provided Khan’s complete medical record. He noted that the material submitted to the court was only a summary of his medical reports and directed that the complete medical record be submitted before the next hearing.
Khan’s lawyer, Khalid Yousaf, told the court that more than 200 cases have been registered against the PTI founder.
The court also sought details of all cases against Khan, including clarification about how many cases have resulted in convictions.
Khan has previously received prison sentences in several high-profile cases. He was sentenced to three years in the Toshakhana case, although the sentence was later suspended. His 10-year sentence in the cipher case was subsequently overturned by the Islamabad High Court. In the marriage case, Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, were sentenced to seven years but were later acquitted.
Khan has also been sentenced in the Al-Qadir Trust case and Toshakhana-II case, with appeals and proceedings seeking suspension of those sentences currently before the courts.
