ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has said that September 27 will show how the state establishes its writ, as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) plans to hold a march towards Islamabad. Speaking to a private television programme, Chaudhry said the government has full authority to take all necessary measures to maintain the state's writ during the proposed PTI march. He said the government does not want to be forced into taking strict measures against PTI over its return to Islamabad. However, he added that the situation on September 27 would make it clear how the state responds to any challenge to its writ. Criticising the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, the minister said the KP chief minister avoids attending the prime minister's quarterly meetings on counterterrorism, but turns to the federal government when seeking a larger share under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award and additional funds. Chaudhry claimed that the federal government has so far provided the PTI-led provincial government with Rs700 billion under the NFC Award. He said the provincial government is responsible for providing a complete account of the funds and demonstrating how they have been utilised. He urged the KP government to focus on the utilisation of federal funds and improving provincial performance instead of political sit-ins and marches.
