LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Raheel Kamran Sheikh has resigned from his position after serving as a judge for more than five years. Justice Raheel Kamran Sheikh submitted his resignation to the President of Pakistan under Article 206 of the Constitution. A copy of the resignation was also sent to the Registrar of the Lahore High Court. Justice Sheikh was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Lahore High Court on May 7, 2021. He remained on the bench for five years, three months and 27 days. In his resignation letter, Justice Sheikh said that serving as a judge had been an honour and a matter of pride. He said that after leaving the judicial office, he had decided to pursue a broader engagement with legal scholarship, policy research and comparative judicial practice. He described his years on the bench as among the most significant and fulfilling years of his professional life, adding that he was leaving the bench with an unwavering commitment to the rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution. Justice Sheikh also thanked his senior fellow judges and court staff for their support during his tenure. He was ranked 27th on the Lahore High Court’s seniority list and had issued 126 reported judgments during his judicial career. Justice Raheel Kamran Sheikh was due to retire in January 2036
