ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State Talal Chaudhry met with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in Islamabad. During the meeting, the participants discussed the global and regional situation, international peace and security, and matters related to UN peacekeeping missions. Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan was fighting a global war against terrorism and claimed that 25 terrorist organizations are currently operating in Afghanistan, posing a major threat to global peace. He called for the international community to work together to address the threat. The interior minister reaffirmed that Pakistan would continue to play an active role in UN peacekeeping missions. He noted that Pakistani police officers and personnel are also serving with the UN Police, adding that 181 Pakistani personnel have lost their lives while serving in peace missions. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said Pakistan's participation in UN peacekeeping missions has always been significant and praised the country's contribution to global peace. Naqvi also thanked the UN secretary-general for the United Nations' assistance to Pakistan during natural disasters.
