ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has achieved a massive political breakthrough in Gilgit-Baltistan by successfully convincing rival political parties not to field competing candidates for the coveted slot of Chief Minister, sources close to the development revealed on Sunday.
With the opposition parties agreeing to step aside, PPP’s nominee, Amjad Hussain Advocate, is highly likely to be elected as the next Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister unopposed. According to insider claims, no rival candidates are expected to submit nomination papers against him, paving the way for a smooth transition of power.
Meanwhile, sources indicated that the upcoming session of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly might experience brief delays due to ongoing political alignments and procedural arrangements.
