ISLAMABAD: The government has formally appointed senior diplomat Noman Bashir as Pakistan’s new Chief of State Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, diplomatic sources told pakvoices.

According to the sources, Bashir, who had been serving as Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan, has replaced Osman Tipu in the key diplomatic post. He recently returned to Islamabad after completing his assignment in Kazakhstan.

The sources said that Osman Tipu has been appointed as Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, prompting the change in the ministry’s protocol leadership.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Office is also expected to finalize the appointment of its new spokesperson in the coming days.

Diplomatic sources said that the names under consideration include Dr. Mohammad Faisal, Ayesha Ali, Ahmad Farooq, and a few other senior diplomats.

The new spokesperson will succeed Tahir Hussain Andrabi, who is set to assume his new assignment as Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, according to diplomatic sources.
