SLAMABAD: Smartphone users facing hefty PTA taxes will now be able to pay the charges in monthly instalments instead of making a large one-time payment, offering some ‘relief’ to consumers. PPP lawmaker Kasim Gillani announced the development on Monday, saying the instalment option would make the tax burden more manageable for users. In a post on X, Gillani said the development followed nearly two years of efforts to reduce the burden on users of imported smartphones. “After almost two years of struggle, we have managed to secure some relief for smartphone users who have been struggling with exorbitant taxes on imported smartphones,” he said.
