ISLAMABAD: Senator Saifullah Abro on Monday expressed dissatisfaction over the pace of the investigation into the alleged drug trafficking case involving Anmol Pinky, questioning whether authorities would pursue the matter to its logical conclusion.
Speaking during a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Interior’s Sub-Committee, Abro referred to a statement made by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry in the National Assembly, in which he reportedly pledged that the government would not let the Anmol Pinky case go uninvestigated.
“We sought these details to see how far Talal Chaudhry can take action in this case,” Abro told the committee.
The senator also voiced concerns over what he described as a lack of progress in identifying those allegedly backing the accused.
“If Pinky remains in Sindh, nothing will happen to her. In the end, she may even be set free,” Abro claimed.
He further alleged that the individuals allegedly supporting Anmol Pinky had yet to be exposed and questioned whether any meaningful action would ultimately be taken against them.
In a sarcastic remark, Abro said, “Perhaps next year she will even receive a presidential award,” underscoring his criticism of the pace and direction of the investigation.
The remarks came as the committee continued its review of the high-profile case, seeking detailed briefings from law enforcement agencies on the investigation and the alleged criminal network linked to the accused.
