Chinese-Donated Pesticides Worth Millions Expired Due to Alleged Negligence, Audit Reveals
Islamabad-An audit report has revealed alleged administrative negligence at the Plant Protection Department in Karachi, resulting in the expiry of Chinese-donated pesticides worth more than PKR 918.9 million.
According to the audit documents, China donated the pesticides to Pakistan to support efforts to control locust infestations. However, the report states that the Plant Protection Department neither used the donated pesticides nor transferred them to any other department before they expired.
The documents further state that stocks of Malathion and Lambda pesticides remained in storage until they reached their expiration dates, causing a significant financial loss.
The audit authorities have held the management of the Plant Protection Department responsible for the alleged loss and have highlighted the matter as a case of administrative negligence.
