ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister has tasked the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to spearhead regulatory reforms by leveraging its unique whole-of-government framework, with the objective of creating a friction-free corporate environment and fostering ease of doing business for domestic and foreign enterprises.

Regulatory reforms and the Regulatory Guillotine are vital instruments for fostering ease of doing business. These initiatives directly tackle red tape, complex licensing and redundant bureaucratic hurdles that have historically stifled commercial growth in Pakistan.

The Regulatory Guillotine framework was initially initiated by the Board of Investment (BoI); however, it faced systemic bottlenecks, and implementation of the requisite reforms remained sluggish.

Recognizing the urgency of creating a friction-free corporate environment, the Prime Minister tasked SIFC to leverage its unique whole-of-government framework and spearhead these structural overhauls.

Under the SIFC umbrella, the pace of these reforms has accelerated significantly towards achieving the desired economic impact. Through sustained efforts, SIFC has fast-tracked the execution of these critical reforms, ensuring seamless inter-agency coordination and unlocking Pakistan’s true potential as a premier destination for competitive global and domestic investment.

By systematically reviewing, simplifying or entirely cutting out obsolete compliance burdens and paperwork, these reforms dramatically lower operational costs and entry barriers for businesses, further strengthening the ease of doing business in Pakistan.
